A Bit About Me

Since 1996 I have been so fortunate to have worked with some of the most amazing people and extraordinary hospitality businesses in the UK and beyond, building incredible networks with clients and superb food suppliers. 

 

My career to date has been an amazing professional journey that has taught me so much and I am now very proud to have launched Profit Hound to use my extensive experience, knowledge and independence to deliver real value to my clients.

I’ve also found time to marry my best friend and have 3 wonderful children!

Work Experience

A food career is all I've ever known and wanted, starting at age 13 being the only boy at school opting for the Home Economics class!  At 16 becoming a trainee chef, then at 20 joining The University College Birmingham and going on to  complete a Higher National Diploma in Hotel Management before a spell of contract catering in the city.

September 1991 - January 1996

January 1996 - September 2015

September 2015 - June 2016

June 2016 - September 2020

Sovereign Catering by OCS at PriceWaterhouseCoopers

Joining as a chef, quickly promoted to Head Chef then Contract Manager managing the catering department and delivery high level partner and employee dining.

PSL (Now Entegra Europe)

Joining in the infancy of PSL as Operations Manager and quickly promoted Senior Operations Manager managing clients and staff in the Midlands region.

Simon “earned his stripes” working with DeVere and Thistle Hotels improving food profitability on a “no savings no fee” basis.

Simon went on to work in senior client focussed roles at PSL across a huge range of hospitality businesses including national & regional groups, independent hotels, iconic London 5*, NHS and private healthcare, private schools and visitor attractions. 

Pelican Procurement Services

Joining as a client facing Procurement Manager the role developed skills in procurement, supplier management. Clients included The Zetter Group, Queen Mary University of London, Guys & St. Thomas Hospital as well as The Clink Restaurants.

PSL (Now Entegra Europe)

Re-joining as Account Director responsible for a team of operators and independent clients in the south. Managing client relationships, supporting the team to deliver improved client profitability and implementing online solutions for P2P Procurement, menu costing and allergen management.

September 2020 - present

Founding the business has been an incredibly enjoyable learning experience and meant wearing many different hats!

Profit Hound now has a proven model that is delivering truly independent advice, high quality and flexible service to operators wanting to “unleash their food potential”
